    COMMUNITY PROJECTS:

Over the past twenty-five years, the Department of Community Development has created and administered many "community projects" that benefit the entire Town of Hamburg including the Villages of Blasdell and Hamburg.  Examples of these projects include the following projects for senior citizens:

The Town of Hamburg "Adult Day Services Program"
The Town of Hamburg "Senior Fitness Program" and "Therapeutic/Aerobic Exercise Pool".

The Town of Hamburg also creates and assists projects in both villages (Blasdell and Hamburg).  In Program Years 2006 - 2010 work within the Village of Hamburg included replacement of the old 4" waterlines with new 8" waterlines thus creating better water pressure and service within the Village of Hamburg.

In the Village of Blasdell, replacement of old 4" waterlines and street reconstruction was completed on the following streets:  Orchard Avenue, Pearl Avenue, Silver Street, Frontier Drive and McGurk Avenue.  In the Village of Hamburg, street, sewer and water improvements were completed on Long Avenue, Center Street, Lake Avenue, Hillview Place and Woodview Avenue.

Other past projects completed within the Village of Hamburg include the design and construction of the "Wading Pool" at the Village of Hamburg Swim Park, sewer line replacement along Pine Street and East Main Street and the restroom facilities at Glen Meadows Park.

    SENIOR TECHNOLOGY CENTER

Currently, the Senior Technology program is delayed due to the lack of a federal budget for 2012 and also due to the drastic cuts to the CDBG and HOME programs.  Our office remains hopeful that this program will receive enough funding to finish the facility and open the program.  The location of the Senior Technology Center will be in its own building located at the rear of the new "Elm Housing" senior apartments (4122 Sowels Road, Hamburg, New York 14075).
