Small Claims, Evictions and Civil Filings:
Filings are accepted: Wednesdays - 8:30am - 4:00pm
Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays - 1:00pm - 4:00pm
Traffic Tickets:
Guilty Plea by Mail: If you wish to plead "Guilty" to a traffic violation by mail, date and sign PART A of your summons and remit it to the Court before the court date which is printed on the front of your summons. Upon receipt, the Court will notify you in writing of the fine due.
Not Guilty: If you wish to plead "Not Guilty" by mail, you must date and sign PART B of the summons. Upon receipt of your not guilty plea, the Court will notify you in writing of your court date for a meeting with the Town Prosecutor.
If you do not want to enter a plea by mail, you should appear in Court on the date listed on the bottom of your summons. Upon arrival at the Court, please check in at the Court Clerk's counter.
Adjournments:
Criminal Court: Requests must be made in writing by the attorney. Mail or fax requests.
Traffic Court: For violations only (not misdemeanors). Requests can be made by mail, fax or phone call.
Small Claims: Adjournments are usually not granted for small claims cases. Contact Small Claims Clerk for further information.
Evictions: No adjournments available.
Bail:
Bail is posted to assure the appearance of a defendant on each and every court date until the case is closed. The bail posted will not be refunded until the case is closed and all fines are paid. A 3% poundage fee is deducted from the bail amount. Bail refunds are made on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at 9:45am. You must present your bail receipt and photo id.
Suspended License:
To take care of a suspended license, come to the Court Clerk's counter on a Traffic Court day. Bring any forms sent to you in the mail concerning your suspension.
Warrants: You must surrender yourself to the Hamburg Police Department in the police building located behind Hamburg Town Hall.
